Bridge Collapses In Mumias Killing Two Girls

Two girls have drowned after a bridge they were crossing collapsed in Mumias East sub-county on Saturday.
The girls, Lavender Mang’eti, Patience Mang’eti, and Sandra Mang’eti were swept by the waters at River Lusumu in Munungu village as they were crossing to Isongo area, Kakamega County.
They were heading for prayers at Khaimba when the wooden bridge collapsed. Sandra was quickly rescued by villagers but the waters made it difficult to save the remaining two sisters.
Patience’s boy was recovered one kilometre from the bridge on Sunday by iCare divers.
Musa Chibole, Kakamega County Disaster Technical Team Chairman, told the Daily Nation that a team of seven divers have teamed with villagers in the recovery efforts.
