Kayole Residents Protest After Police Officers On Patrol Killed Man For Flouting Curfew

Protests rocked Kayole Streets in Nairobi on Thursday morning after police officers on patrol beat a 38-year-old man to death on Wednesday night.

The deceased identified as, John Kiiru was beaten to death for flouting the 10pm-4am curfew protocols.

The deceased is said to have been on a bodaboda ride going home when the security officers blocked him and attacked him at Tushauriane Stage. The owner of the motorbike that he was aboard, however, fled to unknown destination.

Kiiru who attempted to escape on foot, was chased by the police officers before beating him to death. Kiru’s wife, Esther Wanjiru, told the press that her husband called her at 12:30am on Thursday telling her that the security officers had seriously attacked him.

Kiru, who was allegedly dumped by the security officers, was found dead the following where he was attacked. His body was found lying at the site as protesters now want stern action to be taken against the 38-year-old man’s murderers.

Enraged residents storm the streets protesting Kiiru’s death by blocking the roads and lighting tyres. Attempts by security officers to move Kiiru’s body to the mortuary proved futile.
