Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi has blasted popular rapper Khaligraph Jones for keeping silent on a police killing in Kayole. Nyakundi accused the crooner of often affiliating himself with the neighbourhood, since he grew up there, but choosing silence when police mete violence on residents.

The blogger was referring to the brutal murder of a 38 year old man in Kayole. The man was reportedly killed by police officers on patrol after he was found flouting curfew regulations. His death sparked protests in the neighbourhood and on Twitter, with Kenyans calling for an end of police brutality.

Nyakundi took issue with Khaligraph’s recent visit to Deputy President William Ruto’s Karen home, accusing him of being a sell-out. He also claimed that the musician has lost is identity due to his unending pursuit of clout and fame.

“MORON of the day goes to Khaligraph Jones. Today Kayole has been burning with chaos after police arrested a 38-year old man for violating curfew. Khaligraph who derives his street cred from affiliation with Kayole, did not say a word. In essence, Khaligraph no longer represents the streets but is a promoter of vanity, consumerism and partisan politics. We all knew he’s a sell-out when literally begged for a meeting with Ruto, only to be handed a paltry 40K together with his fellow sell-outs. He has lost his identity in pursuit of clout and fame,” Nyakundi posted.

“Just Too Much Bana, sorry been absent for a minute but sh#t maze, its Messed up out Here, polisi Wanatumia Curfew Kama excuse ya Kuumiza Raiyaa. Watu wanakufa Kila siku, sai Imefika mpaka Mtaa Yangu Kayole Maze, Serikali ya Kenya Imelala, ama Watu wakuje warushe Mawe uko statehouse ndio Mujue ni ukweli Raiyaa Inaumia? Cause vile kunaenda Uko ndio ni kama watu wanakuja Next. #endpolicebrutalityinkenya,” Khaligraph posted.
